A very brief history
Jobalope was conceived in early 2023 when Eytan Klawer found himself job searching and paying close attention to the process. He spent countless hours customizing his resume, tailoring it, and re-proofing it for each application. Then, when recruiters started to call, preparing for interviews by googling the company and job function again, hunting down and reviewing the original job descriptions, and trying to take it all in again before each of a series of calls over weeks or months. Also, manually tracking all these activities and specifics like call and follow-up dates, names, salaries, locations, insights and notes, project submissions, etc., on a spreadsheet of job opportunities (sound familiar?).
After a few weeks, he became frustrated with this tedious and inefficient manual job-search workflow. There had to be a better way.
In a tough job market, he knew that many others were likely facing the same problems, and he spoke to expert recruiters and other job seekers to confirm his ideas. His first idea was to create a tool for creating high-quality, targeted, and error-free resumes much more efficiently. Employers have many high-tech tools to make recruiting more efficient. Jobalope would aim to level the playing field by offering jobseekers the same state-of-the-art AI tech.
Additional ideas followed to automate and improve the other tasks of an effective and efficient job search. Eytan began envisioning a set of high-powered “pro tools” for job seekers. This was the seed and inspiration for Jobalope.
An important note about our values
In the contemporary digital landscape, fake gurus, self-proclaimed experts, and coaches have proliferated, capitalizing on people’s vulnerabilities and aspirations. Using myths, self-serving scare tactics, and dubious advice they target job seekers with a range of services that promise to almost magically enhance their employability and secure some dream job. While some of these services might be useful, most are overhyped and overpriced, and their effectiveness is often greatly exaggerated. They end up leaving their customers disillusioned and justifiably distrustful.
Jobalope is not like that… so what are we like?
We hold these values as central to our business:
- There is no white knight or silver bullet. We believe that no one will do the work of job searching for you, nor could anyone do it on your behalf any better than you. That’s why we strive to empower job seekers with the right tools, knowledge, and skills to be more efficient and effective at doing the work.
- We reject the use of misinformation (myths), self-serving scare tactics and inflated promises.
- We aim to provide cost-effective services that deliver real value, rather than capitalize on job seekers’ financial vulnerabilities.
- Our success is tied to the success of the job seekers we serve.
